While he has to be happy with how well he’s playing, Tom Coughlin wants Odell Beckham Jr. to cool it with the touchdown celebrations.

More from New York Giants

There is no doubt that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has  been a blessing for head coach Tom Coughlin and the New York Giants offense, however that doesn’t mean that Coughlin is happy with everything Beckham brings to the table.

Aside from making some of the best plays that we have seen this season, Beckham loves the elaborate celebrations when he gets into the end zone, although he paid the price for one on Sunday. After scoring his first of two touchdowns in the game against the Rams, Beckham spun the ball and did a little dance, which drew the yellow flag from the official.

After the game, Coughlin expressed how unhappy he was with that moment and he noted to everyone that he had a talk with the youngster. He also expressed that Beckham will cool it down with the celebrations.

“He finally got flagged for his celebration,” Coughlin said via the New York Daily News. “That was an issue, because here we are kicking off from the 20-yard line and they got the ball with great field (position).

“I said something to him when it happened,” Coughlin added. “When he was called for it, I said something to him.”

To Beckham’s credit, though, he did admit that he didn’t know spinning the ball was a penalty in the league.

“I spun the ball in front of me. But it is something that was a penalty,” he said. “That’s just being young and trying to learn the rules and what you can and can’t do. I didn’t know that that was a penalty.”

With the way the rookie has stepped up for the Giants, catching for over 1,000 yards despite missing four games, I’m sure Coughlin will get over it quickly.
