Report: Pitt Hires Pat Narduzzi As New Head Coach
By Jack Crosby
The Pittsburgh Panthers have reportedly found their new head coach in the form of defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi.
The Pittsburgh Panthers’ search for a new head football coach has reportedly come to a close on Tuesday. According to multiple reports coming out, the Panthers have settled on Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi as their next head man.
While the deal is pretty much done, there is not expected to be an announcement by Pitt until after Christmas has passed, so Narduzzi could be introduced as early as Friday.
Narduzzi’s name is always up for head coaching openings as of late, however nothing ends up coming from it. For the past few seasons, he has chosen to remain with the Spartans, although now that pattern has been broken.
During his time with the Spartans, Narduzzi has built one of the best defensive units in the country. While Michigan State had a serviceable offense in 2013, it was the ferocity of that defense that carried the team to a Big Ten title and Rose Bowl victory over Stanford.
Narduzzi will be replacing Paul Chryst, who left the Panthers after three seasons with the team to take over the program at Wisconsin.
