Aldon Smith has landed himself in more than enough trouble as of late, but the San Francisco 49ers are soul searching and ‘looking into’ Aldon Smith’s connection to a rape case.

It’s been a rough year for San Francisco 49ers defensive star Aldon Smith, as he’s fallen completely off and has now become more of a problem for the team than anything else. From his off-field substance abuse to that incident at LAX where he shouted about bombs, Aldon Smith has gone off the deep end and is just now starting to try and swim back.

Smith has had his problems in the past but they just don’t seem to go away. With the San Francisco 49ers in soul searching mode now that Jim Harbaugh is likely out as head coach, the team is going to begin purging it’s problems left and right — which may include jettisoning Smith after yet another failed chance.

According to a report from ESPN, the San Francisco 49ers are ‘looking into’ what Aldon Smith was doing at Ray McDonald’s house at the time of the sexual assault and whether or not he had been drinking.

"“We’re certainly going to look into it,” Baalke told “The Damon Bruce Show” on 95.7 The Game on Monday in regard to Smith’s reported presence at McDonald’s house. “In this situation, I think, there are different situations, and we treat each situation differently, but yet we’re certainly going to look into it.”“We’re certainly going to look into it,” Baalke told “The Damon Bruce Show” on 95.7 The Game on Monday in regard to Smith’s reported presence at McDonald’s house. “In this situation, I think, there are different situations, and we treat each situation differently, but yet we’re certainly going to look into it.”"

It’s unclear just what Smith was doing at the house, which is why it’s definitely alright to look into it. Smith is a substance abuser, and this whole  ‘looking into it’ thing would be the same if Smith wasn’t a player in the NFL.

San Francisco isn’t going to put up with its problems anymore and after giving Smith more than a few chances, this might prove to be the final one he has with his current team.
