New Orleans Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham said that they have had a “long year” this season.

Jimmy Graham and the New Orleans Saints were knocked out of playoff contention last week in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and it was the icing on the cake as far as their season is concerned. They have had a nightmare year, and Graham himself has had a terrible season as well.

He talked about the season individually and made it clear that he isn’t happy with his production. The Saints needed a lot more from him, and he simply wasn’t able to come through. Injury troubles were a concern all year long for him, but that can’t be used as an excuse.

Take a look at what he had to say about the season and what he will be doing this offseason to get things back on track.

"“Well, you know, it’s been a long year. But I haven’t really had time to really sit back and evaluate the entire year itself. But I’ll have that next week and for the next three months to really see kind of the beginning to the end of this year and to do whatever it takes not to repeat that. I’m gonna get it right in the end.”"

Graham also talked about how defenses have switched up their coverage on him to help slow him down.

"“You know, there’s always a safety over the top. Even on a lot of my double moves, I would get open on the immediate man-to-man, but even a middle-field safety would a lot of times cheat my way. And so that limits you on those big plays. But we’ll see, I’m gonna take a look at everything and try to improve.”"

All of that being said, New Orleans has a lot of work and some changes to make this offseason. It will be very intriguing to see if there are any changes to the coaching staff, and you can expect to see some roster moves.

The Saints are not going to sit back and act like this season never happened. They are going to do a lot of things in reaction to the lazy football that some players played, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a coach like Rob Ryan out of a job and looking elsewhere. New Orleans is a much more talented football team than they showed this season, and Graham especially came up well short of expectations.
