As we near 2015, each Eastern Conference team has something it must do to get headed in the right direction; let’s call it a New Year’s Resolution.

Well, hopefully you had a wonderful Christmas full of NBA joy. It was a disappointing day overall, as several big stars missed action. Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Kawhi Leonard and Chris Bosh, just to name the most prominent all sat out the holiday bash of basketball. The NBA on center stage didn’t put its best foot forward yesterday.

Yet as we near the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015, we can look back and see what great NBA basketball has been played this past calendar year. And we can also see that as wonderful as it has been at times, there is also great need for each team to look in the mirror and decide it wants to change for the better.

We will call them a New Year’s Resolution to be culturally and seasonally appropriate. Each team should make the following resolution to improve its basketball prospectus in 2015 and beyond (beyond being especially important for teams such as Philadelphia, New York and Detroit).

We start today with the Eastern Conference, and will work our way to the Western Conference on Monday.
