It’s been a wonderful offseason for the Chicago Cubs who finally have some light at the end of their dark tunnel. In addition to adding ace pitcher Jon Lester through free agency, the young offensive prospects so many have lusted over are finally starting to mature.

Sadly though it’s not all good news in the Windy City as star shortstop Starlin Castro was arrested on Saturday and questioned over a shooting in which six people were injured.

News regarding the situation is rather limited at the current moment though it’s known the arrest came in the Dominican Republic, a country which hasn’t exactly been kind to MLB players in recent years regarding legal issues.

The Chicago Cubs shortstop is reportedly being held at the office of the prosecutor for the city of Montecristi, this according to Col. Jacobo Mateo Moquete, spokesman for the Dominican national police.

While it’s not known what role Starlin Castro himself played in the situation, the spokesman does believe those ‘close’ to the infielder were involved in the shooting.

This is of course the second time the Chicago Cubs star has found himself in hot water in recent weeks as earlier this month, Castro was linked to another situation which involved a shooting in Santiago, but he was not officially investigated.

Castro held a press conference to admit he was located at the Santiago scene though was not involved in the shooting.

Update:

NBC Sports says the shortstop was not arrested, however, he was detained over the shooting.
