Michael Irvin drafted six Dallas Cowboys for his Pro Bowl team, but that was not enough for Jason Garrett.

During Wednesday’s Pro Bowl, draft team captain Michael Irvin drafted six Dallas Cowboys players for Team Irvin, which is being coached by Dallas Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett. Garrett was quoted as saying that the draft “worked out great” for us. According to some reports, Garrett would also like to add another Cowboy player to that mix.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Irvin drafted DeMarco Murray, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Travis Frederick, Tyron Smith, and Zach Martin. The problem that Garrett has is that his long-snapper L.P. LaDouceur was picked by the Baltimore Ravens‘ coaching staff for Team Carter.

“L.P. is the long snapper for the other team, so we are thinking about making an eleventh-hour trade here, I don’t know if that going to happen,” Garrett said, laughing.

“We like (Eagles’ long snapper) Jon Dorenbos, he’s a magician and he does a great job for us. Unfortunately I don’t know if were going to be able to pull (a trade) off, but it’s fun to have all our guys,” Garrett added.

So far as we can tell there are no rules that allow for a Pro Bowl trade, but who can blame Garrett for trying to unite all of his team together.  Who knows, maybe the Ravens’ coaching staff only picked LaDouceur just to keep Irvin from stacking all of the Cowboys’ players on Team Irvin.

“I was a need player for the Ravens coaching staff,” he told Around The NFL. “They wanted me to be on their squad. I’m kind of happy about it, because I’m here. I’€™m not going to complain about that.”

So I guess maybe they really did need LaDouceur after all. Whatever the reason, LaDouceur said he was happy to be on Team Carter, despite all of his teammates being on Team Irvin. He also assured us there would be no foul play to allow Garrett and Team Irvin to take an advantage in Sunday’s game.

“That wouldn’t be fair play,” he said, laughing at the notion.

I really like what the NFL has done with the otherwise fairly boring Pro Bowl weekend. Mixing the players up and drafting them sort of like fantasy football style does make for a bit more excitement than what we normally see. I still am not sure that this game will carry enough excitement for average NFL fans to tune in and watch.

Maybe since the NFL likes to experiment some, they could play the first half of the Pro Bowl with under-inflated footballs and then play the second half with regularly inflated footballs. That might get some attention and have fans tuning in everywhere. We all know it makes it easier, but let’s let America see what it looks like.
