Former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe defends Tom Brady from the accusations made by former NFL quarterback Mark Brunell and Troy Aikman.

The New England Patriots have found themselves embroiled in a controversy all week long regarding some under-inflated footballs during the AFC Championship game. Both head coach Bill Belichick and starting quarterback Tom Brady denied it, though it looked like all signs pointed towards Brady.

Former NFL quarterbacks Mark Brunell and Troy Aikman were both critical of Brady and think that any instruction to deflate the ball came from him.

Brady is getting the support of one former NFL quarterback, Drew Bledsoe.

“I was really frustrated,” Bledsoe told Boston.com. “Because Mark Brunell is a friend of mine. And Troy Aikman is a friend of mine. And I like these guys and respect them. But I think it was really irresponsible of both of them to go make accusations that Tom’s lying without the facts.

“Put it this way, if I thought Tom was cheating, or lying, I simply wouldn’t say anything until I knew all the facts. But for guys to stand up and say that he cheated and that he’s lying about it without having all the facts in hand, I think that’s pretty irresponsible. I really do.”

While Bledsoe has a point, that Brunell and Aikman are making accusations without any facts or hands on knowledge, they’re both NFL quarterbacks who are familiar with the process that goes on leading up to a game.

Interestingly enough, it was Brady who replaced Bledsoe when he went out with an injury and he never gave the job back.
