Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside put up a huge triple-double performance on a national stage against the Chicago Bulls.

Hassan Whiteside was a fairly unknown NBA player when the Miami Heat signed him earlier this season, but he took a major step towards creating a name for himself with a brilliant triple-double performance against the Chicago Bulls this afternoon.

More from Chicago Bulls

Whiteside was able to score 14 points to go along with 13 rebounds and 12 blocked shots.

Those kind of numbers are what gets young players noticed in the NBA, and his 12 blocked shots are actually the most in Heat and NBA regular season history.

At just 25 years of age, Whiteside still has plenty of room to grow.

Miami is very high on him and there is a chance that he could become a future star if he continues working on his game. His athleticism and wingspan are certainly advantages over a lot of NBA players, and he has great timing on his blocks as well.

It is going to be very interesting to see how this young center continues to progress over the next year or two.

Twitter loved the performance that Whiteside put up against Chicago as well.

"I have to wonder how good the Miami #Heat would have been with a lineup including D-Wade, LeBron, Bosh and Hassan Whiteside. — Ben Leibowitz (@BenLebo) January 25, 2015"

That certainly is an interesting thought, as LeBron James and the Heat desperately were in need of a defensive big man who could block shots as well as play on the offensive end of the court. Here are some more Whiteside Tweets.
