Carter, the son of hall of fame wide receiver Cris Carter, has been a standout player for the Montreal Alouettes. Carter has 1,939 receiving yards in two seasons with the Alouettes.
Rather than bouncing around practice squads, Carter decided to go hone his skills up in Canada after going undrafted out of Ohio State. Carter also spent a year at Alabama where he was teammates with current Colts running back Trent Richardson. Whether Richardson is a teammate of his again in Indianapolis and whether he decides to sign there is another story.
It appears the move to play in Canada is paying off as multiple teams are pining for his services.
Carter can’t officially sign with any team until February 10, but it appears he will make a move quickly with so many suitors lining up for him. Carter has been holding private workouts for many teams including, Kansas City, Minnesota, the team his dad played for, Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Indianapolis.
He also workouts scheduled with Tennessee, San Francisco, and Cleveland.
Carter possesses a large frame standing at 6-foot-5 and would provide a large target for Andrew Luck, or whatever quarterback might be throwing his way.
According to The Indianapolis Star, Carter is intrigued most by Inidanapolis.
"Carter, according to the source, is drawn to Indianapolis for obvious reasons: The presence of three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck and one of the NFL’s best passing offenses. Carter and his agent have expressed his legitimate interest in playing for the Colts to the team’s front office."
Wide receiver is a need for Indianapolis as both Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks are free agents this year. It is unclear whether Wayne, who is considering retirement will return and Nicks, a former Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants, will have more suitors than just the Colts.
A team to keep an eye on in the race for Carter is the Minnesota Vikings. With his dad being one of the greatest Vikings of all time, it would make sense for his son to play there as well. The Vikings have a young team that is growing and improving with Teddy Bridgewater under center and Mike Zimmer coming off a successful first year as head coach in Minnesota.
It would make all the sense in the world for Carter to go to Minnesota to be a part of something that is being built along with the franchise having a spectacular new stadium coming soon.
Carter has his options and where he decides to go, will be somewhere he can be featured in the offense.
