‘X-Men’ TV series in the works

X-Men TV series is in the works with Fox.

With shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Gotham, The Flash, and Arrow, superhero and comic book fans have a wide variety of programming to watch to hold them over until the next big comic book blockbuster is released.

Well fans of the X-Men series can have even more to look forward to now with the recent announcement of an X-Men TV series confirmed to be in the early stages of development with Fox. There may be a few hiccups along the way though. Because even though Fox owns the rights to the X-Men franchise, they are still going to need the big wigs at Marvel Comics to sign off on the deal.

It seems as though they have forgotten that there have already been TWO great X-Men shows including the ’90s television series and my own personal favorite X-Men: Evolutions which had many of our beloved mutants as teenagers (it’s a lot less lame than it sounds. I promise)

You can watch the whole freaking series online I guess.

The franchise has already spawned eight feature films, and is looking forward to the much anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse coming May of next year. So it should come as no surprise that Fox would want to tack on a TV show to keep the hype up.

Writer of Days of Future Past Simon Kinberg gave his blessings for an X-Men television series last April in an interview with Collider saying:

"“We’re still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at ‘SHIELD’ to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with ‘Daredevil’… it makes sense to tell some of these stories in TV partly because there’s just not enough screens to do all these characters, and also because the serialized format of comic books is better suited for TV,” he said."

This move might show that Fox is just playing catch up with Marvel who have a ton of new shows in development currently including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Agent Carter coming to ABC, and Daredevil, AKA Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage streaming on Netflix.

This truly heralds the golden age for superhero lovers.
