Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy thinks that quarterback Nick Foles should not lose his job for next season.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy says that Nick Foles is his quarterback and should definitely not lose his job as the starter just because he got hurt. McCoy told Sirius XM NFL radio that Foles still needs to be the quarterback going forward, injury or no.

“I feel like Nick is my quarterback,” McCoy explained. “He got hurt. Guy shouldn’t lose a job because of that.”

There was plenty of speculation during the season, and especially after the first couple of Mark Sanchez games, that the Eagles were ready to be done with Foles. However, Foles doesn’t want that to happen and apparently neither does LeSean McCoy.

“You are going to hear about it every single year. That’s just part of it. The main word is ‘rumor.’ You can’t put too much into it….I plan on being in Philly,” Foles said via CBS Sports on Thursday.

Foles added that he only listens to Chip Kelly, the Eagles head coach. He says Kelly is the one making the decisions as far as starting quarterbacks are concerned and he intends to not only be in Philly, but as the starting quarterback. Although, Foles did also add that he hasn’t heard much from Kelly in the offseason, but he’s sure he’ll be hearing from him soon.

If not Foles, then who? Some of those rumors have the Eagles taking a hard look at the draft, and even maybe trading up in the draft to go after Marcus Mariota, who obviously has connections to Kelly as the Oregon quarterback.

Foles tried to say on an appearance on NBC Radio at the Super Bowl that he was ignoring the noise and trying not to think about it.

Other teams are thinking about it though. The Rams, Texans and Titans are all reportedly interested in Foles should the Eagles decide to part with him this offseason, per Sporting News.

Foles finished the year with 13 touchdowns in eight games last season, before departing with a fractured collarbone. It started the thought process with some in the Eagles organization that Foles’ 2013 season was a bit of a fluke. He had 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions that season, compared with 10 interceptions in 2014.

Foles has still only thrown 17 interceptions in the past three seasons, along with 46 touchdowns and a career completion rate of 61.6.
