Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers collects his second career NFL MVP.

As Green Bay Packers fans still recover from one of the worst losses of all-time, they can now rejoice in the fact that their guy, Aaron Rodgers, has officially been named 2014 NFL MVP.

This marks the second time Rodgers has taken home the league’s most prestigious award (2011).

He took 31 of the 50 votes in total. Coming in second was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year winner JJ Watt with 13 votes. Tony Romo and DeMarco each collected two votes, and Tom Brady and Bobby Wagner nabbed one vote each.

Rodgers now joins an elite club of only nine players to win the award multiple times. The list includes his predecessor Brett Favre, a three-time MVP.

It was an incredible year for the man who so often “Discount Doublechecks” on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field.

Leading Green Bay to a NFC North Championship and 12 wins, he put up a stellar 4,381 passing yards and 38 touchdowns. The man ridiculously only threw five interceptions on the entire season, helping pave the way to a quarterback rating of 112.2.

Rodgers finished third in the league in passing touchdowns, seventh in passing yards, and second in quarterback rating.

More than stats, though, he willed his team in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions.

Playing on what turned out to be a torn calf, Rodgers limped his way to 226 yards and two touchdowns on 17-of-22 passing, including a rushing touchdown. His performance and leadership led his Packers past the Lions in what turned out to be the Division Championship, and led Green Bay to a BYE.

Although the MVP is a regular season award, we also saw his leadership on full display in the playoffs.

After Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilson and the rest of the Seattle Seahawks erased a double-digit lead within a couple of minutes, Rodgers told his entire team to “relax.”

With a crazed house in Seattle as the 12th man was going nuts, Rodgers calmly and confidently led his offense on a seven-play, 48-yard drive which resulted in a Mason Crosby field goal to force overtime.

If it hadn’t been for a miracle Seahawks two-point conversion, or a Seattle coin flip victory, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots could’ve been preparing for Rodgers and the Packers all week.
