Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell won the FedEx Ground Player of Year award for the 2014 NFL season.

The NFL Honors are taking place on the Saturday night before the Super Bowl on Sunday. During the award they announce the 2015 Hall of Fame class and the winners of the annual awards in the NFL.

Though the show doesn’t air till later on Saturday night, some awards began to leak out ahead of time. It was announced before the show that Pittsburgh Steelers running back won the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award.

“I think this year was a good individual performance for me,” said Bell. “I haven’t stopped and really looked at it. The year went really fast. When I go back and look at the games, I see some of the things I did and am happy, but a lot of credit goes to the guys up front. The offensive line did a tremendous job of opening holes for me this year. You have to give those guys credit.”

It was rather shocking that Bell won, and there seems to be a great deal of shock that Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray didn’t win. Bell rushed or 1,361 yards, second most in the NFL to Murray and his 1,845 yards.

While Bell had nearly twice as many receiving yards as Murray, he still didn’t surpass the Cowboys back in yards from scrimmage.
