Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says injured safety Kam Chancellor looked ‘okay’ to his eyes.

One of the more over looked and under talked about topics during Super Bowl week has been the health of the Seattle Seahawks defense.

Sure, the juicy discussion points surrounded the New England Patriots‘ perceived sneakiness surrounding Deflate-Gate. Deflated Balls, Roger Goodell, Tom Brady, Aaron Hernandez, Marshawn Lynch, Rob Gronkowski and crotch-grabbing were all in the lime-light over the last seven days or so.

Most of this garbage will have absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of Super Bowl XLIX.

The health of the heart and soul of the Seahawks defense is much more important.

If it wasn’t enough to see both Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas battling injuries, strong safety Kam Chancellor decided to get in on the fun as he tweaked his knee during Friday’s practice.

Head coach Pete Carroll provided a little insight on the injury, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

“He looked pretty good today,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told D. Orlando Ledbetter on Saturday. “We will make sure we test him in pregame, but he remarkably looked great today, and so that’s all we have to go on.”

Although he did remain down on the turf after injuring the knee, Chancellor is listed as probable and hasn’t sported any noticeable limp.

The Seahawks have got to feel a little deja vu right now. Sherman left the Super Bowl last year against the Denver Broncos due to an injured ankle.

While the injured three-fourths of the Legion of Boom is currently sporting injuries, the fact that they’re all going to start has everybody feeling very calm. Remember, though, starting the game is not enough. They’ll have to play like they usually do if they want a repeat performance of last year.

Tom Brady could completely eliminate Sherman and Byron Maxwell from the game by not looking to the sidelines and over the top once.

They use Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Shane Vereen in the middle of the field so much that the Pats could decide to go to war with a nine on nine gameplan. Thomas playing the deep third and Chancellor robbing underneath will be ultra critical.

Will the Legion of Boom be healthy enough for Seattle’s defense to look like the dominant group were so used to seeing?
