Super Bowl I was played between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs

There was a lot of tension between the AFL and NFL, as a result, there was an awful lot of pressure on both teams to win. The AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs came in to the game with a record of 11-2-1, and the Packer’s posted a record of 12-2. This game was the only every Super Bowl to be broadcasted by more than one network simultaneously.

NBC and CBS thought it would be a good idea to record over the game footage, not knowing how important the footage would be in years to come.

There is one fan who has come out and said that he has footage of the game. The lucky fan is looking for top dollar — and my guess is that he will probably get it.

The game itself was relatively one-sided, ending 35-10 in favor of the Green Bay Packers. The Packers scored a touchdown in each quarter (two in one quarter) , while the Chiefs only managed to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter. The game was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and the Packers were considered to be favorites going in to the game.

The cost of a 30 second commercial was approx $42,000…a little different from today’s inflated prices — each commercial today will cost millions.

Legendary coach Vince Lombardi was leading the Green Bay Packers. With quarterback Bart Starr, who would be MVP two years in a row, the Packers were unstoppable on the offense and they were too much going forward for the Chiefs to handle.

The Green Bay Packers were each paid $15,000 as the winning team, the losing team were paid $7,500. That would be so much added pressure going in to the game. The Packers played under the pressure, and used it to ignite an impressive victory.
