The All-Pro wide receiver said in an interview that he wishes to remain with the team for the rest of his career.

In an interview following a charity game in Arizona, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant said that he hopes to remain on the team for the rest of his career. Bryant is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and his big season will undoubtedly raise his next contract.

From NBC 5 Dallas:

"“Regardless, I’m a Cowboy,” Bryant said. “But it is what it is. It’s business. I am a free agent. I’m very confident that something is going to happen, something is going to get done, and have these Cowboys fans excited for a long time.”“I’m a Cowboy at heart. It’s Cowboys forever,” Bryant said. “It’s a process. We are talking about big money. I am pretty sure it’s going to be positive at the end of the day.”"

Dez Bryant finished the year with 88 receptions, 1,320 yards and a league leading 16 touchdown receptions. For a player known for his flashy highlights, he has been steadily productive in his five years on the Dallas Cowboys.

The issue, though, is not how much Bryant wants to remain a Cowboy, but how easy it is for the Cowboys to keep him. Bryant is at the end of a rookie deal that pays him considerably less than what his production justifies. With running back DeMarco Murray also headed for free agency, the Cowboys are going to face some salary cap issues in keeping them both. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones has voiced his willingness to use the franchise tag on Bryant.

Last year, the Cowboys found success on offense behind excellent and high-profile skill position players and the best offensive line in football. The production of Murray and Bryant fed off each other, as Bryant was able to draw single coverage with defenses concentrating on stopping the Cowboys running attack. Bryant was also able to expand the defense downfield, more easily opening up lanes for Murray and the rushing attack.

The Cowboys also found a way to win on defense with a relatively low-profile unit and coordinator Rod Marinelli. Dallas may have to do this again this year, although even that may end up being difficult under the salary cap.
