Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota NFL Scouting Combine weigh-in results
By Jack Crosby
Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota have completed their respective weigh-ins and the NFL Scouting Combine
Every year at the NFL Draft there is always a top storyline to watch play out and this year that story is which quarterback will be the first to go off the board, Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota. This race is taking a big step this week with the NFL Scouting Combine, and both players checked in on Thursday morning.
Especially with Winston, considering the unflattering picture that has been floating around the internet this past week, there have been some concerns that he might come in a little overweight. Well, that was not the case with him, as he actually came in a little smaller than expected, checking in at just a little over 6’3″ and 231 pounds.
Jameis was expected to maybe come in around the 250-pound range, which is the reasoning for the surprise at the final number.
Now as for Mariota, well he came in a bit larger than some had thought. The reigning Heisman winner checked in at the same height as Winston and tipped the scales at 222 pounds.
Again, everything that these two do up until the Draft, especially at the Combine this week will be poked and prodded with a fine-tooth comb. While people were expressing some shock at the final numbers for both men, the fact of the matter is that they came in with bodies that are looked for out of a prototypical NFL quarterback.
Both Winston and Mariota will throw in Indianapolis this week.
