Apparently the Oregon Ducks were more intrigued with having Vernon Adams under center rather than Braxton Miller

A few weeks ago the Oregon Ducks presumably landed their man to take over for Marcus Mariota under center with the commitment of Eastern Washington transfer phenom Vernon Adams. Of course, this came as a surprise to some that thought Oregon might be going hard after Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, who still may transfer out of Columbus.

However, we’re now finding out that apparently Oregon didn’t covet the services of Miller as much as some had thought.

In an interview with Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman regarding his decision to transfer to Oregon over UCLA and Texas, Adams noted that the Ducks informed him that he was the one they were specifically targeting, not Miller.

"Adams’ decision came down to Oregon or staying at Eastern Washington. Texas tried to recruit him but came in too late in the process, he said. Adams talked to UCLA and considered taking a visit there the week after he visited Oregon, but opted not to after thinking more about his situation. He said he had no idea what Miller might do, and that “Oregon told me straight up that they were coming after me and, if they didn’t get me, then maybe they go after him, but they said they were coming after me first."

Hey, anytime you have someone tell you that they prefer you over a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, that’s really one of the highest compliments that you can receive, which makes it no surprise that Adams instantly fell in love with the thought of playing in Eugene for Mark Helfrich and crew.
