Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett has a lot of great wisdom for some children in a youth football league including telling them most importantly to say no to drugs.

Who doesn’t love the children of the world? Their minds are so innocent and pure that it’s important that we as people teach children the proper way to live before they come adults.

It’s safe to say that Darnell Dockett also loves children.

The 33-year-old defensive tackle from the Arizona Cardinals had these words of wisdom to say to a group of youth football players while they were huddled up.

“I want y’all to get a girlfriend by next week.”
“I want y’all all to say ‘no’ to drugs.”
“I don’t want y’all hangin’ in a strip club—not yet. Not yet. Not yet.

On the surface Docket’s words are intelligent and he offered a lot of insight in those three sentences.

Dockett was serious when he told the group of young men to find a girlfriend. For any young student, and for any male in general finding a woman is on the top of any list. The fact Dockett’s innocently telling children to find a girlfriend isn’t a necessarily a bad idea. After he told them that he instantly became relatable.

What 12-year-old boy didn’t want a girlfriend in middle school?

After saying that and building a rapport with the children Dockett went on to tell the young men huddled up the most important lesson of the day which was to say no to drugs. After he said those words the children went dead silent and listened to his wisdom.

In this day and age it’s easier for children to get their hands on drugs and start to go down a path they shouldn’t be on. The fact that Dockett cared enough to drop a line as serious as that right after saying something relatable is truly a geniune piece of advice. Drugs kill dreams, and for children, all they have is their dreams and hopes.

In addition to close out his words of wisdom Dockett says to the children that they shouldn’t be in the strip club and he’s dead right. There’s no reason why a child should be thinking about the strip club, let alone even attempting to get into one. He’s right when he says not yet, because now is not the time for that.

The fact that Dockett took time out of his day to speak to these children and give them these words of wisdom is awesome.

Maybe he can motivate other adults to live wisely as well.
