The NFL Draft is right around the corner and the Oakland Raiders could be a team that is on the rise  when it comes to trade rumors for top overall picks.

It seems you can’t properly have an NFL Draft without the Oakland Raiders somewhere at the top of the order. The team has been consistently atrocious for years and they’re once again near the top of the NFL Draft this offseason. But will the Oakland Raiders remain at No. 4 overall or will they end up moving their pick before the clock runs out?

According to Raiders beat writer Bill Williamson, Oakland is a team to watch when it comes to not trading up but trading back in the draft to amass as many picks as possible.

"Yes, I think it’s possible. I do believe Oakland would like to stockpile picks. Plus, their two top need areas, receiver and pass-rusher, are deep. So, if the Raiders can get down to the No. 10-12 range, I think they’d be thrilled."

Most mock drafts at the moment have either Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota falling and being available at No. 4 overall which is good news for the Raiders. There are teams like the Cleveland Browns and especially the Philadelphia Eagles who will be interested in trading up for Mariota and paying a ransom to do so.

If Oakland wants to amass as many picks as possible, that’s the smart move to make. They already have Derek Carr — who is a star in the making at quarterback — which leaves them with little need to make a move at Mariota or Winston.

They may not get the haul that the Washington Redskins doled out to the St. Louis Rams to draft Robert Griffin III but they’re in line for some serious return on their No. 4 pick should they choose to move it at the right time.
