NFL Rumors: Jeremy Maclin wants to re-sign with Eagles
By Josh Hill
The Philadelphia Eagles are wrapped up in Marcus Mariota rumors, but the team is also looking to re-sign some veterans and that could mean a return for Jeremy Maclin.
NFL free agency is right around the corner and the Philadelphia Eagles are one of a handful of team looking at their pending free agents and trying to decide who to bring back. Jeremy Maclin is on that list of free agents and he’s a player who if he hits the market, won’t last long.
But there’s hope that the Eagles will be able to bring back Maclin in 2015, and that’s something the receiver would like to see. He’s not openly saying he’s going to play for pennies in Philly, but Jeremy Maclin has expressed an interest in staying with the team beyond this season.
According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, Maclin has expressed an interest in re-signing with the Eagles this offseason, but that hardly means it’s going to happen.
"“I’ve always said I want to be here in Philadelphia, but also I’ve always said it’s a business. But both sides have made it known that we want each other back, so the rest is in God’s hands. If it’s supposed to happen, it’s supposed to happen. I want to be here.”"
Wanting to be in Philly and actually staying are two wildly different things. The Eagles need to consider their future and Maclin may have a part of that. But the question isn’t if they want Maclin back, it’s can they get the money to do it and that’s the problem.
Teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and even the Kansas City Chiefs could swoop in and sign Maclin this offseason, but there’s hope that the Eagles can bring him back and that’s going to be the case until he inks a deal elsewhere.
