Jacoby Jones and the Cincinnati Bengals reportedly had a good visit.

Jacoby Jones was released by the Baltimore Ravens last week. Jones was cap casualty, and while he wasn’t the same player he was for the Ravens in 2012 when they won the Super Bowl, he could still have a nice role on an NFL roster as a third receiver and a kick/punt returner. Jones visited with the Cincinnati Bengals Monday and a source reported that the visit was going well.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN.com, a source close to Jones reported that the visit was going well and Jones enjoyed the Bengals visit.

When the 2015 NFL season rolls around, Jones will be 31 years old. That being said, the Bengals would be willing to bring in Jones on a veteran-minimum type of deal. In 2013, Jones was a nice commodity to the Ravens’ offense as he caught 37 passes for 455 yards and two touchdowns.

However, in 2014, guys like Michael Campanaro and Kamar Aiken surpassed him on the depth chart. That being said, Jones’ role and position on the team was relegated, and he was really nothing more than a return man. In 2014, Jones caught just nine passes for 131 yards.

Regardless of his lack of production on offense in 2014, he still was one of the best returners in the league. He didn’t have a punt return brought back for a touchdown, but he averaged just under 10 yards per return. In kick return, Jones scored a 108-yard touchdown and he averaged 31 yards per kickoff. Although he’s getting up there in age, Jones continues to show that he is a valuable commodity in the return game.

A team like the Bengals, who may be in the market for a returner as they look to get the most out of Adam Jones at cornerback, could be the perfect team for Jones’ services.
