Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is actively recruiting free agents Ndamukong Suh and Andre Johnson.

The Indianapolis Colts are looking to add some weapons this offseason and punter Pat McAfee has taken over as their head recruiter to bring big names to the Colts via Twitter. McAfee is looking specifically at top defensive free agent Ndamukong Suh and wide receiver Andre Johnson.

The Detroit Lions chose not to spend a $26.9 million franchise tag on Ndamukong Sun which would have locked him up for the 2015 season with no guarantee of a long-term deal. Had the Lions signed Suh to that deal, he would have been responsible for nearly 25% of the their cap. Suh is set to become an unrestricted free agent March 10, and could still sign with Detroit, but is expected to shop his options as many teams want one of the top defensive players in the NFL.

For Andre Johnson, he hasn’t been happy lately in Houston. Last season, he had just 936 yards receiving and three touchdowns after having over 1,000 yards in five of the six seasons before 2014. Johnson has reportedly asked for a trade or a release from the team and he’s drawn interest from the Colts, or at least their punter.

The Colts have the fifth-most cap space according to Spotrac, which means they’re in the market to make some big moves this offseason. The Colts are looking for new weapons for quarterback Andrew Luck as receiver Reggie Wayne contemplates retirement or free agency and Hakeem Nicks may also be leaving. This would make Andre Johnson a huge target for Indianapolis.

The Colts defense also needs some work, starting with their defensive line and Ndamukong Suh is someone who can make their defense great, making the perfect formula for a Super Bowl run after they lost in the AFC Conference Championship to the New England Patriots last season.

We’ll see if the Colts are serious about adding these two big names this offseason, or if Pat McAfee is just speaking for himself.
