Jonathan Massaquoi is officially a member of the Tennessee Titans.

Although free agency starts in a week, the Tennessee Titans have already made a move to bolster their pass rush. Mock draft season has been going on over the past few months. In many mock drafts, the main target for the Titans seems to be USC‘s Leonard Williams. While they still could very well go in that direction in the draft, the Titans made a move to improve their pass rush by adding Jonathan Massaquoi, who recently played for the Atlanta Falcons.

, the Titans were awarded Massaquoi by waivers. While it isn’t a sexy move by any means, Massaquoi is a guy that could make an impact as a rotational pass-rusher. In three years with the Falcons, the Troy product had 70 tackles and six sacks. In Tennessee’s 3-4 defense, Massaquoi will likely be used as a backup outside linebacker. However, he shows the ability to play defensive end in passing situations. Even though Massaquoi is going to a new team, he will still make the same salary he would’ve made with the Falcons. Massaquoi will make $660,000 in the last year of his contract.

Considering Derrick Morgan will likely test free agency, the Titans are extremely thin at the outside linebacker position. Granted, they do have one of the more underrated defensive linemen in all of football in Jurrell Casey, the Titans really do not have a ton of established pass rushers. Now with Morgan gone, the Titans will need help and although he will likely not replicate the success Morgan had, Massaquoi is in the perfect position to improve his game, as he will likely be given a ton of playing time. Regardless of the move, the Titans are still in need of pass rushers and they will still likely go after one early in this year’s draft.
