Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United’s record signing Angel di Maria needs more time to settle.
Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal believes his club record signing, Angel di Maria needs more time to settle though he does not know how long that will take.
Di Maria signed from Real Madrid last summer in a mega £59.7m deal and started life at Old Trafford well, directly contributing to six goals in his first five games.

The Argentine has struggled recently though, failing to make a consistent impact on the team and without a league goal since October 2014.
He was also substituted at halftime over the weekend in United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland. Van Gaal however, has defended the 27-year-old and believes the adaptation process applies to all his new signings:
“I think it counts for all the players that we have bought, the first season is always difficult,” Van Gaal said. “You have to manage so many aspects. Not just the game, but the culture.”
“For me, it is not a big surprise, it is more a big surprise when Di Maria adapted as quickly as possible. In Holland, Spain and Germany I had the same experience with players. We have to give him time, not just Di Maria but all the players. We wait and see.”
In fairness, we can give Di Maria a break as he has had problems off the pitch when he and his family were victims of an attempted burglary in January while he has been deployed in many different positions.
However, he should still be doing somewhat better considering the amount of money he earns and that was spent on him by the club.
