Which five teams should look to sign or acquire Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson?

Andre Johnson appears like he could be headed for free agency if the Houston Texans decide to agree to his request to be released. He could also be traded in the near future, but he is much more likely to hit the free agent market and have his pick of a new team.

There are quite a few teams that could use a wide receiver of Johnson’s caliber, and there will be plenty of interest in him if he hits the open market. As of this point in time, the Indianapolis Colts appear to be by far the favorites to sign Johnson and any other team that steals him away would be a surprise.

At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, he is still a major threat in the passing game despite being 33 years old. He wasn’t happy with the type of role that the Texans were going to offer him for next season, and decided to part ways.

Johnson is still more than capable of putting up big numbers in a key role for whoever decides to pick him up next.

During the 2014 season, Johnson ended up catching 85 passes for 936 yards and three touchdowns. Why the Texans would want to cut his role after seeing him have that kind of season is a different question that is difficult to answer.

That being said, the Texans have made him available and will cut him if they can’t find a trade partner. Yet another big name is about to hit the open market, and it will leave plenty of teams trying to convince him to join them for the 2015 season.

Which five teams in particular should be aggressive in their pursuit of Johnson?
