The Seattle Seahawks look like they could be an option for Denver Broncos impending free agent tight end Julius Thomas.

There are rumors swirling around about NFL free agency, and Denver Broncos impending free agent tight end Julius Thomas has been one of the hottest name in the rumors. Tuesday will be the opening day of free agency, and it is going to be an absolutely crazy period for all fans.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk on Twitter, the Seattle Seahawks are a potential option for Thomas.

Thomas would be a very intriguing pickup for the Seahawks, and would immediately make their offense more dangerous. Seattle desperately needs to bring in better targets for Russell Wilson, and that showed in a big way during the 2014 season. Percy Harvin didn’t pan out, and was traded to the New York Jets halfway through the season.

Last season, Thomas ended up catching 43 passes for 489 yards and 12 touchdowns. He didn’t put up huge numbers like he did during the 2013 season, but he also was hampered by ankle issues. Thomas caught 65 passes for 788 yards and 12 touchdowns during 2013, and immediately vaulted himself into the top active tight ends list.

It will be interesting to find out what type of money Thomas is looking for this offseason. Seattle doesn’t have a ton of money to spend this offseason, but a talent like Thomas is hard to pass on.

At just 26 years old, Thomas has quite a few years of high quality football left. There is no question that he is going to be worth the money that he costs, but the Seahawks may not be able to afford him. If they are able to get him, their offense would take a huge step forward and Wilson’s job would immediately get easier.

Don’t be surprised to hear rumors surrounding the Seahawks showing interest in Thomas over the next few days as free agency draws closer. They tried to acquire Thomas in exchange for Harvin last year before the trade deadline, but were turned down. There is no question that they have interest in the tight end, and Thomas likely would be interested in joining the Seahawks as well.

All of that being said, this is certainly something to keep an eye on as free agency gets underway. The Seahawks are looking to fill a couple of holes, and they need to make some upgrades to their offense.
