The Green Bay Packers had interest in free agent Andre Johnson, but thanks to Randall Cobb that interest has evaporated.

Andre Johnson is a free agent for the first time in his career, and for the first time in his career he won’t have have a home in Houston. He’s far past his prime in the NFL, but there are still good years left for Andre Johnson and the question is where will he spend those years?

Last week, it was rumored that those years could be spent in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers, but any hope that Andre Johnson will join the Packers has seemingly evaporated.

According to Rob Demovsky from ESPN.com, the Packers are no longer interested in Andre Johnson and were only really ready to pursue him if Randall Cobb left in free agency.

As we know now, Cobb didn’t leave and the Packers are set at wide receiver. Adding Andre Johnson at a small scale contract could be deadly, but he would be relegated to the role he had in Houston where he wasn’t the lead wheel.

It’s hard to see Johnson as the lead wheel anywhere, but in Green Bay he’d be the third or fourth wheel where he can be at least a second wheel in a place like Indianapolis.

It appears Johnson is leaning towards joining the Indianapolis Colts, but there are no guarantees about that. What we do know is that Johnson won’t be joining the Packers, but should both sides have a change of heart it could be deadly for the rest of the NFL.
