Quarterback Marcus Mariota will most likely go in one of the first two picks in the NFL Draft.

In spite of all the Marcus Mariota detractors and predictions of him falling down in the draft, the feeling from people hanging around team executives, seems to be that he’s still not getting past the second pick. One of these people, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, says that he’s done exactly that and the strong feeling continues to be that he’s not going past second. Not only are the bottom two teams most likely interested in him, but there are teams that might be interested in trading up for him.

The Titans could be that second team and unfortunately for teams wanting to trade, the Titans legitimately need a quarterback. La Canfora seems to confirm that by saying that the price point developing at pick two is probably going to keep teams that want him, i.e. the Redskins and Jets, from actually coming up with anything to trade the Titans for that pick.

"“He’s going second overall,” said one of the general managers who is paying particular attention to the Mariota market. “I don’t know to which team, but he’s going second overall.” (via CBS Sports)"

The interesting question is whether the Titans, with the second overall pick, will pass on Mariota and instead try to get a big price from a team that wants to trade up for him. Of course, the Titans could simply skip him altogether and then the third and fourth picking teams, the Jaguars and Raiders having other needs may also skip him and that leaves the Redskins. That’s another interesting scenario as obviously Washington’s last first round quarterback pick hasn’t panned out for them yet.

So whether Mariota goes in the first two or not, it will be interesting either way.
