Manu Ginobili made an incredible pass Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Manu Ginobili may not be the spry youngster he was when he burst onto the scene with the San Antonio Spurs at age 25 in 2002. Then he was the rare excitable and exuberant player on an otherwise veteran and seemingly boring basketball team.

Spurs radio broadcaster loves to yell “Manu tres!” when Ginobili nails a three-pointer for the Spurs. Friday night, though, he had an opportunity to rewind in time to call a fancy no-look pass.

With the Spurs already ahead of their Southwest Division rival Dallas Mavericks in the second quarter 30-18, Ginobili took a pass on the left wing, and without even looking it seems, found Boris Diaw cutting to the basket.

The lefty fired the pass with his strong hand chest high across the middle of the lane narrowly missing the outstretched arm of 7’0″ Mavericks center Tyson Chandler. Generally, that would be a no-no. In this instance, however it made for the perfect dime.

All Diaw had to do was catch the pass and convert the easy lay-in. The basket gave the Spurs a sizable 14-point lead against the Mavericks, a team they blew a similarly comfortable second quarter lead against on Tuesday night in Dallas.

The Spurs did rebound to defeat Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder convincingly the next evening in San Antonio.
