The Cleveland Cavaliers executed an alley-oop to perfection Friday night, leading to a ferocious LeBron James slam.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Much has been made this season about the fragile relationship between LeBron James and Kevin Love and all the emotions that brings to the Cleveland Cavaliers locker room. But the two were on the same page Friday night at least against the Brooklyn Nets.

As seen in the video, Love tosses a pinpoint pass to James, giving him a prime opportunity to show off his other-world athleticism.

A look at the scoreboard at the time of the alley-oop indicates that Cleveland maybe should have tried the “wide open LeBron dunk” play earlier in the game. The Nets beat the Cavaliers 106-98 to snap Cleveland’s four-game win streak. James finished with 20 points.

Perhaps the 31-40 Nets were inspired to play so well by the thrill of a playoff chase, as they only trail the Boston Celtics by half a game for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland may have also been worn out from its impressive 111-89 demolition of the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night at The Grindhouse.

Whatever relationship exists between James and Love, both have played well enough to propel the Cavaliers to a 47-27 record after some shaky times earlier in the season. Cleveland cannot catch the Atlanta Hawks for the best record in the east, but should be able to comfortably secure the second seed.

The two teams could meet in the first round if the Nets play well enough (.500 might do it) to catch the Miami Heat for the seventh spot. A few more LeBron dunks could happen in a mismatched seven-game series.
