In the first game of the night, the No. 2 seed Hurricanes were able to knock off the No. 1 seed Owls in a game that was fast-paced action from start to finish. While this was not the NCAA Tournament, head coach Jim Larranaga continues to prove that he’s one of the best things to happen to the Miami basketball program in quite some time, leading them to more post-regular season success.

Sheldon McClellan was phenomenal in leading the Hurricanes to the win in this one to put them in the championship game of the NIT this season, finishing with a double-double by dropping in 16 points with 11 rebounds.

In the second game of the evening, we learned that Miami’s opponent in that championship game will be the No. 2 seed Stanford Cardinal, who were able to knock off top seeded Old Dominion in yet another thrilling game as we close out the second-most important college basketball tournament of the post season.

These two No. 2 seeds will now battle it out in Madison Square Garden for the 2015 NIT Championship Thursday night at 9 PM ET.
