After an Edwin Encarnacion home run, a New York Yankees fan attempts to throw the ball back, but fails miserably.

One New York Yankees fan was not very impressed with the home run Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion hit. We weren’t overly impressed with her failed effort to give the ball back.

On a 2-1 count with 1-out in the top of the third inning, Encarnacion added to Masahiro Tanaka’s pain with a deep blast to left field. The ball carried all the way to the back of the first deck, where a lovely young lady came up with the bomb. A lucky fan wins a souvenir right? Well, she decided she would adhere to the home field rules and throw it back in disdain. Unfortunately for her, no one ever explained how to properly grip a baseball when throwing it.

It looks like she got the point and kick down properly, but those five fingers wrapped around the ball caused her to simply bury the throw. Considering the face she makes after letting it go, I can’t imagine the end result of the throw was very good. Considering the guy next to her covered up and the fan in the #46 jersey turned with his hand over his mount, one has to imagine another lucky fan received the ball, perhaps in the back of the head.

Of course, as far as fan throws go, there have been worse and at least she got to do this from the relative anonymity of the seats. She could have had the luxury of embarrassing herself like this Astros fan tossing out the first pitch last season.
