Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall nailed a vicious hit on Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov.

Niklas Kronwall showed no remorse for his opponents well being or his own as he absolutely destroyed Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov in Game 6.

As Kucherov skated up with the puck, Kronwall’s momentum carried him as he went for the knockout and he delivered a satisfactory hit for fans of big hits in a big way.

Kucherov was frozen like a deer in the headlights and the puck leaves his stick as he senses the big hit incoming.

Unfortunately, he had nowhere to go and ended up taking two big hits. One from Kronwall and one from the ice he landed on.

There was no penalty on the play for Kronwall and it doesn’t appear that he left his feet until after the hit.

Kucherov’s head snapped back and he landed hard.

The good news is that Kucherov was okay and only just shaken a bit up after the hard slam.

The playoffs are all about physicality and intensity. With the Wings wanting to close out the series at home, Kronwall brought everything he had as he set the tone on the ice.

It’s a hard hit, but it appears to be a clean hit too.

Someone’s going to need to give Kucherov an ice pack after this one.
