Wednesday is another full day of fantasy baseball in the MLB with three games this afternoon and 13 more under the lights tonight as the Rockies and D-Backs try to squeeze in a double-header in Denver.  However you’re playing fantasy baseball today, choosing the right starting pitcher is the key to success.  It’s especially important to your FanDuel MLB Strategy since each roster only has one slot for staring pitchers.

For today’s look at starting pitchers, we’ll take a look at a few studs who are good options on this slide, followed by some stay-away options, and finally some all-important sleepers who can deliver despite a lower price.

Getting the right starting pitcher is the most important piece of FanDuel MLB Strategy, so lets’ look closer at today’s options

3 Starting Pitcher Studs

1. Max Scherzer-Washington Nationals: Scherzer is only 1-3 to start the season but his 1.25 ERA shows how well he has been pitching with little to no run support.  In his last outing, he struck out a season-high ten against the Mets while taking a hard-luck loss after allowing just one run on five hits.  He takes on the Marlins tonight in Nationals Park, and is the biggest name on the schedule today.  If price is no issue in your search for a starting pitcher, it’s hard to argue against Scherzer as the top candidate.

2. Gerrit Cole-Pittsburgh Pirates: Cole and the Pirates host the Reds tonight after losing the series-opener on Tuesday 7-1. Cole will be looking to start the season 5-0 after winning each of his last four straight starts allowing one earned run or fewer.  He did get knocked around a little by the Reds back in his first start of the year which was also his only no-decision. Cole has been on his game lately, and he’s a solid option for tonight.

3. Scott Kazmir-Oakland Athletics: The A’s left has started the season strong going 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA.  He’s in a good matchup tonight against Minnesota and has 36 strikeouts in his 33.1 innings this season.  If you can get Kazmir at a lower price than the other studs, roll with him tonight since he’s a little more under the radar than Cole or Scherzer.
