Following the release of the Wells report, Tom Brady’s father defends the quarterback.

Tom Brady has yet to speak out about “Deflategate” – Tom Brady Jr., that is.

The Wells report, the independent, investigative report by Ted Wells was released on Wednesday, causing a flurry of activity around NFL circles. Despite Brady and coach Bill Belichick vehemently denying any involvement in the incident, the report found that the New England Patriots quarterback “was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities” involving the deflating of footballs.

Brady himself has yet to comment on the report’s findings, but his father did. Speaking to the USA Today, Tom Brady Sr. backed his son:

"“I don’t have any doubt about my son’s integrity – not one bit,” he said. “In this country, you’re innocent until proven guilty. It just seems Tommy is now guilty until proven innocent.”“This thing is so convoluted…They say that possibly – possibly – he was aware of this. The reality is that if you can’t prove he did it then he’s innocent, and lay off him. That’s the bottom line.”"

Someone sounds a little defensive!

But Brady Sr. was not done yet. He also made that the NFL is more concerned with its image than that of Brady’s.

"“The league had to cover themselves. The reality is they had no conclusive evidence”"

Oh really, you read the whole thing already.

And of course the NFL is concerned with their image – they have a huge image problem. But I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a number of non-Patriots fans that think the league has no concern when it comes to Brady’s image. The guy is the darling of the NFL and everyone knows it.

"“This was Framegate right from the beginning.”"

Framegate! Good one.

"“They’re saying he’s possibly aware… How do you put a cloud over somebody like this?”"

Seriously, guys, how is this even an issue? This was just a rogue equipment manager! It’s really not a big deal.

Ok, now that Tom Brady’s father, a completely impartial party, has voiced his opinions on the matter, I think we can all rest easy. Move along! Nothing to see here.

News flash, Tom Sr.: the Patriots were caught knowingly cheating and they’ve had virtually no consequences. They’ve escaped scot-free thus far.

Let’s see if the NFL actually does something in response to the most recent findings. Fines and suspensions are not exactly groundbreaking means of punishment for teams that cheat.
