The Bay Area is already planning a parade for when the Golden State Warriors win the NBA Championship.

The Bay Area seems pretty confident in their Golden State Warriors. So confident, in fact, that they are already planning a championship parade to celebrate their future NBA title.

Reportedly, city officials have already started planning a parade for their hometown team, according to SFGate.com.

"[Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf’s] latest challenge is to figure out what happens if the Warriors win the NBA title. do they start the parade in Oakland and wind up in San Francisco? Does Oakland get shut out of a parade all together? Does San Francisco allow Oakland to have their parade as recognition for the team’s 44 years in the East Bay? According to a source, Schaaf has already talked to San Francisco mayor Ed Lee about what a parade would look like. One idea might be to begin the march in Oakland and then put the team on a barge to San Francisco."

All important questions here, but aren’t we forgetting one small detail? Like, oh, I don’t know, actually winning the NBA title? It’s still entirely too early for all that planning – it was April just one week ago.

And does this really parade really need to be mapped out a month in advance? Aren’t there more pressing matters for the Mayor of Oakland to worry about?

Now, the Warriors are a very good team, they wouldn’t be the one seed in the Western Conference if they weren’t. Not to mention that their two biggest stars, league MVP Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, are a formidable one-two punch and the team’s defense is the best in the NBA. But they still have to win two more series before they even get to the NBA Finals. Not to mention the fact that they currently have a 0-1 series deficit to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Another interesting thing about this story is that there shouldn’t need to be a ton of planning going into this. Sure, you want to get Oakland in the mix, but San Francisco has held three championship parades in the last five years thanks to the Giants. Just add in Oakland and parade away. But first, pump the brakes a little.
