The Madden 16 cover was revealed on Wednesday afternoon, and Odell Beckham Jr  will be the latest NFL star to appear as the face of the video game.

We’ve waited all offseason long to find out who will be on the cover of Madden 16, and tonight we found out. On a SportsCenter special, it was reveled that Odell Beckham Jr will be on the cover of Madden 16 when the game is released in August of this year.

It’s the first time that a player from Odell Beckham Jr has appeared on the cover of Madden and he joins the likes of Barry Sanders, Ray Lewis and Larry Fitzgerald as legends of the game to appear on the cover.

Of course, there’s the matter of the Madden Curse to worry about, as it’s a curse that hasn’t failed to rear it’s head every single year the game has been released. Last year Richard Sherman and the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl only to lose at the goal line on their final play of the game.

Here’s the first trailer for Madden 16 featuring Odell Beckham Jr:

In years prior, players like Drew Brees, Michael Vick and Marshall Faulk have all suffered from the curse while players like Peyton Hillis, Vince Young and others have fallen completely off the map and are forgotten as Madden cover stars.

At the end of the day though, it’s a real honor to be on the cover of a Madden video game, as the residuals from that have to be ridiculous. Not only does it make you a face of the NFL season but it solidifies your place in the annals of Madden history.

Of course, that history isn’t always neatly written.

Still, Odell Beckham Jr has only raised his value on the sponsorship front as being the face of Madden 16 is a giant step forward in building a legacy that is sure to grow further in 2015.
