Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson made the block of a lifetime against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 3, but a terrible foul call by the officials took it away.

One of the worst things in the NBA is when a bad call wipes out a sweet play.

For Tristan Thompson, he swatted a ball so hard that it left an imprint in everyone’s mind.

Unfortunately, a phantom whistle was called after the sweet block and instead of it counting, Thompson was awarded with a foul instead.

Rather than arguing or making a scene, Thompson took a walk and cooled down after he was robbed of a big time playoff moment.

In the NBA, officials have the toughest job and are constantly scrutinized, but some times they make the most abhorrent decisions on the court.

Taking away a clean block in a blowout was one of those moments.

So Tristan Thompson may not have his sweet block anymore, but he can take solace in the fact that his team ran all over the Hawks and his play defensively and on the boards was a key factor in their win.

As for the refs, the game was one-sided and there was no clear foul on the play. Let them play!
