Khris Davis almost messed up a homer while Ryan Braun made history with how far he hit his homer!

Baseball is a game of basics. A pitcher throws a ball. A batter tries to hit the ball.

For a batter, hitting a homer combines the following basics: “sweet spot” in the batters box, proper grip on the bat, eyes picking up the ball, correct weight shift through stride and contact with the ball, complete follow-through with swing.

You would think remembering to touch all the bases as you do your home run trot would be a no-brainer.

I wish I could come up with a witty retort as to how Davis could have such a brain cramp in the first inning of a game. Mr. Davis had 33 career homers entering today’s action so it’s not like he is new to the home run trot.

This is a straight-up lapse of concentration by 28-year-old. Davis is very lucky his heel clipped the very tail end of home plate. Khris Davis hit another homer in the 3rd inning, this one not requiring a video review.

In the fifth inning, teammate Ryan Braun would steal the spotlight from Davis. Braun hit a 474-foot home run! The baseball may still have been going by the time Braun finished rounding the bases.

The Braun homer is the longest homer hit by a right-handed batter in Miller Park during its 15-year history.

All these homers to talk about and the Brewers still lost the game to the San Francisco Giants.
