The Chicago Bulls have been rumored to be shopping top flight head coach Tom Thibodeau on the trade market, but a straight tup firing might end up

It appears that the relationship between Tom Thibodeau and the Chicago Bulls is so far gone that it’s going to end even more disastrously than we thought.

Rumors have circulated that the Bulls are holding out on firing Thibodeau until there are no jobs left in the NBA this summer. That seems plausible when considering the idea that the team hates Thibodeau so much that they’re willing to pay to fire him.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Bulls are seriously weighing the idea of straight up firing Tom Thibodeau and eating his remaining salary.

"Sources told ESPN.com that the prospect of Chicago simply terminating its highly successful but often contentious relationship with Thibodeau, as the days pass, is growing in likelihood, even with nearly $9 million left on the coach’s contract over the next two seasons."

It takes a special kind of distain for another person for this to happen, and it highlights just how dysfunctional things are for the Bulls and Thibodeau. It’s not as though the head coach is making chump change, as $9 million is a lot of money to a team that has been pinching pennies for years.

Think about it — the Bull shave cycled through bench players and tossed aside successful pieces like Marco Belinilli, C.J. Watson and Nate Robinson because they wanted too much money. Now they’re ready to eat almost $10 million to get rid of Tom Thibodeau.

Then again, the thing that all of the above mentioned have in common is that they gave the Bulls their best chance to win. So to those who have watched the Bulls slam their head into a brick wall for the last half-decade, this should really come as no surprise.
