Did winning the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan move Kurt Busch up the NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings?

After weeks of pretty clean racing, it only takes one week of disaster to shake up the order as we know it.

Sunday at the Quicken Loans 400, it was a day of changing the old guard and supplementing it with a new guard. For weeks it was the names of Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson that we were all accustomed to hearing when it came to the conversation of the best driver in NASCAR.

Enter Kurt Busch.

Sunday, Busch wasted no time in taking advantage of the weather and picking up his second win of the season. It’s almost fitting he was able to pick up the win, after losing in California earlier in the season on a caution.

When it comes to the points, Busch only moved up one spot with his win, but now he has the second-most wins on the season. He has been a factor in several races and now has a chance to jump into the upper-echelon of drivers this season.

The big loser on the day was Johnson, who fell two spots back in the standings despite having the most wins on the season. At this point he is just racing with house money until “The Chase” begins, but he hasn’t been as dominant as the numbers would lead you to believe.

With the Quicken Loans 400 in the books, here are the updated Sprint Cup Standings after Michigan.
