The San Antonio Spurs were one of the teams that we all expected to be making some moves in the NBA Free Agency period, and just hours after everything started, they’re wasting no time in making sure their roster is set the way they want it. Wednesday, they made sure that Danny Green will be sticking around for a while.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the Spurs and their best perimeter player agreed on a four-year deal with $45 million.

In a brief statement about the deal, Green noted how happy he is to be sticking around with the franchise that made him a star in the NBA.

“Might be getting some other pieces” obviously is alluding to the fact that San Antonio seems like the front runners at the moment for the services of free agent big man LaMarcus Aldridge. In another move the team made on Wednesday, they traded center Tiago Splitter to the Atlanta Hawks, making it more evident that they’re prepared to bring Aldridge in for some help down low with Tim Duncan.

But for as important as it is to acquire Aldridge, it may be almost equally as important to have Green back into the fold. Scoring wise, Green is coming off the best season in his career, where he averaged 11.7 points per game in helping the Spurs make another run at the NBA Playoffs.

This was one of the first moves early in the Free Agency period, but the Spurs don’t seem like they’re done just yet.
