Skip Bayless is one of the most unliked individuals in the sports media today. The co-host of ESPN’s unforgivable First Take program, Bayless is paid to give his commentary on various sports, usually football and basketball. One of his favorite pastimes is coming out with insane arguments and holding onto them for years.

So naturally, Bayless felt an overwhelming opportunity to say something outlandish when Kevin Love decided to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday afternoon for five years and $110 million. Bayless took to Twitter, saying the following:

On Thursday, Sports Illustrated writer and media expert Richard Deitsch saw the tweet from Bayless and did what everyone who enjoys sports wants to do. He absolutely torched him.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

For the record, Love played well in the first round series against the Boston Celtics before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. He scored 19, 13 and 23 points including a double-double in Game 1. Furthermore, Love isn’t the top dog on a team with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. He doesn’t need to be the big-shot taker.

Deitsch decided to get the July 4th weekend celebrations early with some massive fireworks, letting Bayless know where he stands in the media world. Rarely do you see a media personality attack another, but that goes to show how little credibility Bayless has both with fans and in the media itself.

This is a man who consistently called James “Queen James” until he won an NBA championship. Sure, winning is very important for star athletes, but is Dan Marino, Marcel Dionne, Karl Malone or Patrick Ewing a bum because they didn’t earn a ring in their careers? You would be hard-pressed to find someone who believes that.
