With three months still remaining in the regular season, here’s five reasons why Nationals’ ace Max Scherzer has already locked up the NL Cy Young Award.

Max Scherzer has done it all. The soon-to-be 31-year-old Washington Nationals‘ ace has dominated both the American and National Leagues in the past few years and the 2015 campaign might be his best work yet.

Although there are three months left in the regular season, the Nationals seem to have two of the top major award candidates in Bryce Harper for MVP and Scherzer for Cy Young. Both are very realistic as they are dominating their respective areas of the game and making it look easy.

A year ago, Max was with the Detroit Tigers, trying to prove he deserved a larger contract than the one the organization offered him during the offseason following the 2013 season. He did just that, but Detroit couldn’t afford to keep him and he signed a gigantic contract with the Nationals, sending Tigers fans into shock.

Losing Scherzer has proven to be a huge blow to the Tigers as this surefire ace has been lights out in 2015, putting up the best numbers of his career and getting stronger as each year passes.

Sure, it may be too early to predict who is going to win the end of season awards for each league, but one thing is for sure: Max has locked up the NL Cy Young Award already. That may sound crazy, but the starting pitcher for the most patriotic team in baseball is heading into Fourth of July weekend as the future 2015 Cy Young Award winner for the National League.

Here are five reasons why Scherzer has already won the award.
