The Miami Heat didn’t make waves in free agency, but they’re still open to making moves on the trade market when it comes to Mario Chalmers.

When the Miami Heat entered this offseason, it looked like they might get gutted and have to start piecing together a new dynasty. In the wake of LeBron James leaving — something Pat Riley may not ever get over — the Heat were on the verge of losing Dwyane Wade, Goran Dragic and being plunged into a true era of darkness.

That was all a lot of worrying for nothing though, as the Heat maxed out Dragic, gave Wade $20 million to come back and they even snagged an aged but possibly still useful Amar’e Stoudemire. That’s not the end of the wheeling and dealing for Miami though, as the Heat are looking for trade partners to dump Mario Chalmers on.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Heat are content on trading Mario Chalmers as soon as humanly possible — meaning as soon as they find someone who wants him.

Anyone surprised by this hasn’t been paying attention to the Heat at all, as Chlamers has been on thin ice since he got on the wrong side of LeBron James in the Eastern Conference Finals back in 2013-14 and it’s been downhill from there. He failed to bounce back in 2014-15 and he’s now the most expendable piece on the team.

There were rumors around the draft that the Heat could move Chalmers or Chris Andersen, but trading both of them might not be in the cards. Trading Chalmers is a no-brainer if the Heat can make it happen though, as they have Dragic to lead at the point and Shabazz Napier growing behind him.

It’s almost tragic, as Chalmers was counting dollar signs after a strong Conference Semifinals matchup in 2014 against the Wizards. That was the last time anyone has thought positively of Chalmers on the court and the Heat are officially trying to cash out on what little value he has.
