Who are the winners and the losers of the blockbuster deal that sent Troy Tulowitzki from the the Rockies to the Blue Jays

Leave it to Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos to swerve the MLB Trade Deadline in a direction no one thought it was going. With just four days to go before the non-waiver trade deadline, the Toronto ninja swooped with a deal that no pundits had on their radar and struck the biggest trade of the deadline and set the team up for future moves.

In a shocker no one saw coming, the Colorado Rockies have sent shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and reliever LaTroy Hawkins to the Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Jose Reyes  and highly-touted pitching prospects Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco.

As with any deal of this magnitude, it has sent other shock waves into a market that is on the brink of breaking wide open. With a lack of true impact bats on the market, Tulowitzki was seen as a potential add for a few teams looking for an upgrade in their line-ups. Additionally, the prospects traded by the Blue Jays were seen as major chips in their search for pitching and may upset their efforts to add the pitching they need.

As with any deal leading into the non-waiver deadline, there are implications far outside just the two teams involved. As one domino falls, others with either tumble or be pushed aside. And as with any deal, there are winners and losers involved all across the board.
