Mets GM: Team will not trade for Carlos Gomez
By Jack Crosby
It looked like Carlos Gomez was headed to the New York Mets, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case after all
Sometimes there is nothing crazier than the MLB Trade Deadline, and on Wednesday night you can leave it all up to the New York Mets to prove that to us definitively. For most of the night it appeared that they had acquired Carlos Gomez from the Brewers, but that might not actually be the case.
Following their game on Wednesday night, Mets GM Sandy Alderson shocked us all when he said that there is no deal for Gomez in the works, and to further that point, a deal will absolutely not be happening by the time Friday hits.
Well, that’s a strange turn of events. Now there is also the possibility that the deal was in place and something broke it down, and that might be what happened here.
Whatever the case really is, leave it up to the New York Mets to make the trade deadline here an absolute mess.
Oh, and yeah, I know what you’re thinking — poor Wilmer Flores cried for nothing.
