NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is not a much-liked man these days in certain circles. One of those circles would include New England Patriots fans after Goodell decided to uphold his four-game suspension of quarterback Tom Brady for his involvement in DeflateGate.

On Wednesday, David Hench of the Portland Press Herald wrote that Goodell’s house is actually being monitored by the local police department in light of the recent happenings.

"“They did reach out and let us know about the decision and that it might not be popular,” said Scarborough Police Chief Robbie Moulton."

Does anybody else find this insane? Look, Goodell has made some ridiculous moves since being put into the commissioner’s chair from only suspending Ray Rice for two games when he punched his now-wife Janay Palmer back in Feb. 2014 (once video publicly emerged, Rice was given an indefinite ban). With his track record in mind, Patriots fans are perhaps justifiably upset. Still, the police need to be involved because people are so insane that they could attack a human being over a football team?

Apparently, things are out of hand, per the original report.

"“In the past, when there have been unpopular decisions, there have been emails and things. I wouldn’t say it rose to the level of threats, but certainly expressing unhappiness,” Moulton said."

Sports are major business in America and more popular now than they have ever been before. Perhaps they are becoming a touch to important for some people, who need to sit down and relax.
